Deeper Still - Session Three - Beth Moore
I guess it's about time I finish up my Deeper Still posts...
Saturday afternoon the conference was brought to a close by sweet Beth. She took the stage but then "gave up" some of her time for us hit our knees. It was a time of repentance, a time of prayer and a time of worship. One of the sweetest moments of the entire weekend.
When she came back to stage she brought with her THE WORD! I loved both Priscilla and Kay, but there truly is something special about Beth. She touches on so many things in such a short amount time and digs so deep into Scripture. She steps off the stage and you are left wanting more.
Kay Arthur flipped Bible pages faster than anyone I had ever seen, while Beth just stood still on one scripture:
The Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us. We have seen His glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth. John 1:14
Beth took this verse and phrase by phrase broke down each section. She taught us signs for each one and by the time we left we had it memorized.
The Word
It is God, whose thoughts we can not hear, speaking through His Son's life.
"The days are coming," declares the Sovereign LORD, "when I will send a famine through the land— not a famine of food or a thirst for water, but a famine of hearing the words of the LORD. Men will stagger from sea to sea and wander from north to east, searching for the word of the LORD, but they will not find it." Amos 8:11-12
There was a famine of God's Word between Malachi and Matthew, until..."The Word became flesh..."
Became flesh
Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. This is how you can recognize the Spirit of God: Every spirit that acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, but every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you have heard is coming and even now is already in the world. 1 John 4:1-3
Jesus took on flesh over His God-ness. If He didn't have that flesh covering, we wouldn't be able to look to at Him.
And made His dwelling among us
The word dwelling is also translated "tabernacle" or "tent". Even our flesh is referred to as a tent. It is our temporary dwelling place.
Now we know that if the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a building from God, an eternal house in heaven, not built by human hands. 2 Corinthians 5:1
Jesus came the first time in a "tent" because He wasn't staying. But when He comes in Revelation He will be the temple and He will dwell with us FOREVER!
I did not see a temple in the city, because the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple. Revelation 21:22
We have seen His glory
"Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the LORD rises upon you. See, darkness covers the earth and thick darkness is over the peoples, but the LORD rises upon you and his glory appears over you." Isaiah 60:1-2
We are now the tabernacle of God's Spirit. If His glory is going to be shown, it will be through us.
The glory of the One and Only
Probably my favorite point she made. She said, "Jesus is either your One and Only or He isn't yours!"
She also said, "Nobody else can be Jesus to you - don't get mad at them because of it. People will let us down. There is only One Jesus!"
Who came from the Father
The word used in John 13:23 for "reclining" is the same word used in John 1:18 for "at the Father's side" ...
One of them, the disciple whom Jesus loved, was reclining next to him. John 13:23
No one has ever seen God, but God the One and Only, who is at the Father's side, has made him known. John 1:18
It is not about position, it is about affection. He is leaning on the Father because He loves His Daddy and His Daddy loves His Son.
When you have seen Jesus you have seen the Father and if you want to get to know God, get to know Jesus - the One and Only.
Full of grace and truth
Beth drew special attention to these words, and boy did I need to hear them...
She said, "Jesus is full! Have you been around someone who is empty? They wear you out! But Jesus is FULL! And He is never less full..."
Another timely word was, "Every single time God gives you a hard truth, He gives you the grace to handle it. God gives grace with every Truth."
From the fullness of his grace we have all received one blessing after another. John 1:16
"From the fullness of His grace..." There is always enough grace. New grace is replaced with old grace. He is full!!!
And I left full...so full the Word of God was pouring out of my heart.
God's Word brings change. I pray that it stays. I pray that I will never be the same as I was when I walked into the conference Friday night. I pray that I learn to live as the miracle I am...full of one grace after another.
God gave the invitation. He showed up with Truth. And gave the grace to handle it.
Please, God, let me never forget!
